Recent Events On September 29th,
2007 Josh Englehaupt attended the Streator Duck’s Unlimited Fall
Banquet. Josh has been a dedicated supporter of Duck’s Unlimited for
the last ten years.Duck’s Unlimited is a non-profit organization
dedicated to enlarging and preserving wetlands for wildlife habitat. This year Josh donated pink
roses painted in watercolor. Despite
the poor turnout Josh’s painting brought in the second highest bid of
the evening. The painting was purchased by Illinois Valley Machine
Shop. Over the years, Il. Valley Machine Shop has acquired three other
paintings by Josh. The roses are a nice addition to their collection. |
The surprise of the evening for
Josh happened when Illinois Valley Machine Shop purchased a sculpture
of mallards flying and gave it to Josh as a thank you for Josh’s years
of support for the Streator chapter of DU. Josh was very excited by the gift and we thank the organization for their acceptance and support of
Josh’s work. The Duck’s Unlimited fall banquet and spring fling are
yearly highlights for Josh. |

In
October Josh participated in the Visions of the Valley art show held at
Grand Bear Lodge in Utica, Il. The show was hosted by the Ottawa Art
League. The show was held the day before the Burgoo in Utica. The
Burgoo draws thousands of tourists to the Starved Rock area so the
Visions show was well attended. The show was a success for Josh. This
is his last show for the 2007 year. He’s looking forward to the 2008
season. |
Looking Ahead...
Now
that the shows are over, Josh is planning his next set of paintings. He
will be working on five pictures this time. When he first started
painting he worked on them one at a time but we soon learned that was a
slow way to paint. By working on multiple paintings at once he has been
able to produce more paintings during the year. Aside
from art, Josh is in the process of upgrading his wheelchair. His
current chair is sadly worn out. We’re working on communication skills.
We’re starting out with low tech light pointer and notebook. Also in
the works will be training with switches places in various positions.
Our hope is that with training he will be able to move from low tech to
a computer with language capability. It’s a slow process and we’ll
definitely keep the website updated on his progress. Thanks to everyone who checks in here to see what Josh is working on. He checks this site daily and it gives him great pleasure.
